When it comes to helping students become career-and college-ready, Ben Poulsen is a leader of the pack. Through his instruction, his students learn real-world skills, such as how to build a robot that can accomplish small tasks, how to cooperate, and the importance of following through until a task is completed. Poulsen mentors new teachers and demonstrates this spirit of cooperation on a daily basis by encouraging his colleagues and implementing new teaching practices. His ability to keep students engaged and interested in the subjects he teaches and his positive influence on other teachers are a few reasons Poulsen is this year's Teacher of the Year at Albion Middle School.
