NPR Student Podcast Challenge

Posted in News & Announcements

Mrs. Sidesinger thought that the NPR student podcast challenge would be a fun learning opportunity for kids. Interested students from her class met after school to develop this podcast, which was recently submitted to NPR.

After a vote, the students decided on the topic of "teen suicide prevention." They researched, wrote, and performed this podcast with the help of Mrs. Sidesinger and Aly Wise. Mr. Croshaw helped with the recording.

Thank you to the following students for participating: Isabelle Miera, Erik Christensen, Ian Butler, Ethan Ilizaliturri, Kayla Wells, Teagan Kay, Chloe Vanderlinden, Allison Perri, Zoey Keefer, Sara Watt, and Raegan Simmons.

This contest was for students between 5th and 12th grade. Winners will be announced in April. The winning podcast submissions will be featured in segments on "Morning Edition" or "All Things Considered."

Click here to enjoy the podcast, and good luck to our participating students!

FACS New Teacher of the Year Honors to Miss Brown!

Emalee Brown

Miss Brown was recently honored by the Utah Association of Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences as New Teacher Of The Year.  This is an honor given to one Utah teacher a year in their 3rd-5th years of teaching Family & Consumer Sciences.  Miss Brown enjoys bringing real-life skills to her students and helping them develop their talents with sewing and cooking.  Her students enjoy the hands-on experiences they receive in her class.  We are lucky to have her working at Albion!
