Principal Report:

  1. School Boundary Updates: The Canyons Board of Education is looking at declining enrollment and the building condition of ten elementary schools, mostly along the Highland Drive corridor. Minutes of the April Board of Education meeting can be viewed online. Input from families will be sought before their decision at December, 2025, board meeting.
  2. Albion is on a “permit freeze” for now because we are beyond capacity enrolment.
  3. Sandy City rules allow only one entrance and exit from a school parking area. Albion may pursue widening the one on Quail Hollow Drive.
  4. Year-end testing is happening now. The RISE test is required by the State, Canyons District is using the MAP testing also.
  5. A few curriculum adjustments will be made next fall. There will not be a 6th grade arts wheel. Albion will move to three lunch periods, one for each grade. This change necessitates the gym and teacher to be used during the lunch period, not available for recess or intramurals. Albion will be replacing eight teachers/staff this fall. Interviews are underway now for candidates interested in joining our faculty.
  6. The eighth grade will have a dinner dance on May 22 from 6 – 8pm to celebrate their promotion from Albion. This will be a “nice dress” activity.

Counselor Report:

  1. 84% of eighth grade parents attended PCCR meetings for their children going to high school.
  2. Schedules for students of their fall classes are available in August after registration and fees are completed.

PTA Report:

Last week of school activities will include:

May 27: 8th grade to Lagoon, 6th and 7th grade field day activities

May 28: Yearbooks issued during lunch, signing activity in the afternoon.

May 29: High school graduations, last day of school for 6h grade

May 30: Half day of school.
