SCC Business

  1. Motion to Approve Agenda: Kim Wedlick, Second; Jessica Pohlman; Approved
  • SCC 101: Only for new members; training schedule is on the agenda
  • Elections:

  • Teacher Recognition Subcommittee: Presenting teachers with certificates from nominations provided by the community at the three Noble Knight Assemblies: Members of the Committee: Kim Steenblik, Jessica Pohlman, Kimball High, Cristina Cook, Rachel Bills
    • Kimball High: Nomination to be chair by Kim Steenblik; second by Kim Wedlick: All in Favor

Principal Report

  • Cell Tower Allocation: ($14,500 for this school year) Teachers: Food, Teacher shirts, appreciation gifts
    • Kimball High asked for a breakdown of Cell Tower funds to be able to give additional help to the Principal for making the most of that money
      • Students: Assemblies, Focus Groups, SBO trainings
    • Kim Steenblik proposed approving how all Cell Tower money is spent for the year;

Wedlick seconded the motion: All approved

  • Conferences: Funded by Land Trust: All teachers are on a 3 year rotation; by the end of 2025, all teachers will have had the opportunity to attend national/local conferences
    • Counselors attending local conference, Coates attending creative writing conference, CTE will also attend a conference in November
  • All Community Read Update: secured Mike Lowery to come in March; focus will be science and art; whole school will be going to Aquarium to explore to set up their illustrative findings before All Community Read
    • 2026-2027 school year is being planned; focus will be on History
  • Parking: 5 spots have been open up for 15 minute visitor parking
  • KIVA: Kiva will be ready on October 1, 2025 for use
  • Traffic keep pushing town/council/district the different options to alleviate the safety concerns/delays with buses and cars sharing the traffic lanes

Counselor Report

  • Given by Quinn Silcox: Counselors have been giving introduction lessons, started lunch bunch, different groups, and academic support to all students who have more than 2 D/F’s currently

PTSA Report

  • Reflections will start shortly, fall festival will happen in early October and Red Ribbon will be the week of Halloween

Other

  • Boundary Study: Albion will be affected on three sides; possibly loss of 2 sections of students; possible gaining of 1 section of students
  • Cell Phone Use: BLT meeting last week, all teachers are in favor of no cell phones bell to bell; we will put this on the October agenda; offer public opportunity for input; Mr. Gardner will bring climate survey for SCC to move forward with cell phones
    • Cell Phones cannot be hybrid use
    • School waiting for parent push for no phone all day
