SCC Meeting Notes: January 20, 2026

2. SCC Business
Teacher Recognition: Noble Knight Assembly February 4th: Using the first survey results and doing another push through parent square’s Albion Update this week. Take results through next Friday 1/30.
3. Principal Report
Digital Citizenship and Safety Plan: The librarian will be doing a professional development on AI images for all teachers.
A. Does the SCC feel it received enough information to determine if the filtering systems and supervision practices are appropriate? NO: Filtering needs to be consistent among the different apps being used by the school district.
B. Does the SCC feel it has received enough information about the school’s educational efforts to instill in students a desire to be a good digital citizens? YES
C. Does the SCC believe the school has a viable plan to present information internet safety and digital citizenship information to parents in the community? YES
January Schoolwide Incentive: Math MAP growth results: 8th grade won and will be going to Top Golf on February 5th. All grades exceeded growth for the district.
2026-27 Boundary + permit follow up: 124 permits were submitted for Albion; 54 are already in boundary and are accepted: 60 permits have been issued so far for next year.
2026-27 School Goals: 1st Discussion: $392,000 projected for next year:
- Literacy Goal
- Math Goal
- Science Goal: Anticipating success through $$ for labs and equipment for a robust program
- Climate Goal: Currently tracking less than 10% of N’s and U’s
- Teacher PBIS Funds: Next year, 400$ per teacher
- Math Intervention Class – exploring a possible addition for next school year
- Additional Aide for HOWL and afterschool retakes
- SCC would like to see A Choir class next year: It is on the course card to see interest and demand
4. Counselor Report
Course cards are going out; 8th grade meetings went well; 90% of parents attended
5. PTSA Report
White Ribbon Week: 2 days in Cafeteria for pledge, Para-Olympian speaker Thursday
PTSA Lunch for student members: Bringing in Chick-Fil A
6. Other
Math Curriculum: The new curriculum is to meet the new state standards; the committee of teachers and parents have been meeting for 18 months finding the best one to meet the needs of Canyons’ students.
Cafeteria Improvements: Game Center on Purple Turf:This promotes socialization with old school carnival-esque games; students get in with 3 PBIS points and are loving it
