Students lose significant knowledge in reading and math over summer break. The best way to weaken this “summer slide” is to continue strong reading habits through the summer months.
Albion students are encouraged to participate in the library’s “Passport to Summer Reading” program each summer. Students track their reading–aiming to read at least five books from May through August. Those students who are able to complete the program are rewarded with a summer reading party.
This year party-goers played a game, enjoyed ice cream sundaes, entered themselves into a raffle for books and prizes, and shared with one another their favorite books from their summer reading book adventures. Way to go readers!
