Future SCC Meetings: January 26, February 23, March 30, April 27 Principal Report

  1. TSSP and Land Trust: moving right along; slight hiring issues with adult aides (no applicants anywhere in district), review in January and see if there is room to move an aide position to full-time to help with consistency and
  2. Data review: mid-year data will come in January –visit USBE website for Data Gateway for RISE Test Results from previous school
  3. Safe Walking Routes, School Safety, Positive Behavior Plan and Digital Citizenship:
    • Invest in PRROS for the culture and behavior norms
    • Albion Joust in December
    • Reteaching value of no zeros or missing assignments is ongoing – a struggle this
  4. Would parents be interested in a Parent Night for Albion on issues with our students for digital citizenship and a mental health workshop night? – Yes, need structure to be unique for Albion students’

3.      Groups:

  • 6th grade: Cathy Nelson is running two “Transition to Middle School” groups – she is in week 4 of the 6-week group and will wrap up the week before break. She has a group of 6 and a group of 5 with a mix of boys and girls.
  • 7th and 8th grade: Girls Groups – one per grade – focus on recognizing the good,

growth mindset, body image and self-image, stress management, and managing anxiety. Just finished week 4 lessons today and will also wrap up before the break. There are eight 7th graders and six 8th graders.

  • Students are recommended for this group by teacher/staff referral or self-referral. We

may run more groups later in the year but aren’t sure we will have time.

4.      Looking Ahead:

January starts the course selection process and planning for transitions activities (incoming 6th graders and 8th graders moving up to Brighton). PCCR’s this year: we did similar to how we did them last year. We have a Canvas course that we are asking parents to preview with their 8th-grade student prior to a meeting. We sent out a Skylert at the beginning of Nov. and haven’t had any parents sign up for a meeting.

  • Counseling Dept will resend email about HS transition and PCCR to 8th grade parents

5.      Faculty Report

We are hanging in there. The students are wonderful.

6.      New Business

Curriculum alignment with high schools in core content areas is being directed by the Instructional Supports Department.

  1. Considering ways for 8th graders to become more involved with HS bridge in spring of 8th grade year with interaction with the different clubs and
  2. SCC parents want to make the community aware of the counselor numbers of at- risk students and sharing data out to the community
  3. February/March teachers will need help surviving, SCC wants to partner with PTA to help
